The former presidential aide had advised the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to form a parallel government.

He had tweeted, “Atiku must reject the results and give the FG an ultimatum to declare the authentic results, failure of which he will form a Govt.”

But a statement signed by MURIC Director, Professor Ishaq Akintola, the group said Fani-Kayode’s call was an invitation to anarchy.

In their response, Bamidele Oladeji, CPN National Chairman and Ifeanyinchuckwu Amadi, National Secretary, lambasted MURIC for adding religious and ethic colouration to the outcome of the election.

The body also said it was unfortunate that MURIC attempted to portray Atiku as a bigot for challenging the results announced.

CPN statement reads in part: “We can say that the Atiku we know is a true Nigerian, accepted by all the major ethnic groups and different religious groups in Nigeria.

“We want to also put it clear that Fani-Kayode has been the major vocal voice crying against the killing of Christians in different parts of Nigeria. He had visited Kaduna and was also in Jos speaking for the Christians. We won’t fold our arms and watch anything happen to him.

“It is even funny that Ishaq alleged that Fani-Kayode wanted to secure himself an appointment in Atiku’s cabinet if he forms parallel government.

“Since, the continuous massacre of Christians, has the Ishaq Akintola or the group he claimed to be representing ever said anything to caution their people?

“The so-called Prof is only good off as mere religious and northern slave. He calls himself a Yoruba man and rather that promote national unity, he is busy promoting religious and northern division.

“In the light of the above, we want to warn that nothing negative must happen to Fani-Kayode. And to tell the Ishaq and his MURIC to leave those airing their personal views alone.”
