Buhari to meet Bring Back Our Girls group

The National Security Adviser, NSA, Mohammed Monguno has disclosed that President Muhammdu Buhari has agreed to meet with the members of the Bring Back Our Girls group, BBOG, after a government delegation failed to persuade members of the group to suspend their call of having an audience with the President.

Disclosing this on Thursday in Abuja, Monguno said Buhari will meet with the group at the banquet hall of the presidential villa.

Members of the group had staged a peaceful protest at the presidential villa, Abuja, demanding to speak with the President and demanding for the release of the school girls abducted by Boko Haram sect in Chibok over a year ago.

In a bid to pacify the group, some top government officials comprising the Minister of Women Affairs, Aisha Al-Hassan; Minister of Defense, Monsur Dan-Ali; National Security Adviser, Mohammed Monguno; and the Chief of Defense Staff, Abayomi Olonishakin met with the group.

Speaking, however, on behalf of the group, former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, reminded the president of the promise he made in the Villa during their last meeting with him and also during his inauguration.

Stating why the President could not meet with the group today, Women Affairs Minister, Mrs. Alhassan, said the notice given to the President was short and that as at the time of the protest, Buhari was meeting with President Boni Yayi of Benin.
