President Muhammadu Buhari is set to depart Nigeria for Jordan. The president would be attending a meeting on terrorism holding December 2 – 3, 2017 in the Middle East country.
According to a statement by Femi Adesina, his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Buhari is expected to discuss issues surrounding terrorism in country while seeking measures to cripple activities of insurgents.
He will be accompanied by governors of Kogi, Osun and Niger States and other government officials.
The statement reads “President Muhammadu Buhari will join other Heads of State in Aqaba, Jordan, to review strategies in fighting terrorism and reinforce joint security structures that will be more proactive in preventing attacks.
“The Aqaba Retreat, hosted by HM King Abdullah II of Jordan, will hold Dec 2-3, 2017
“At the meeting, the President will share Nigeria’s experience on terrorism and its spread across West Africa, and solicit more support for pre-emptive measures that will neutralise the activities of insurgents in the sub-region.
“PMB will also hold bilateral meetings with some Heads of State. He will be accompanied to Jordan by the governors of Kogi, Osun and Niger States; Ministers of Defence, Education, Foreign Affairs; NSA; and the Acting DG of the National Intelligence Agency.”
