Buhari, Saraki to meet first time since Nigeria election amid fresh EFCC probe

President Muhammadu Buhari has invited the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, to the presidential villa Abuja.

A source close to the seat of power made the disclosure to DAILY POST Tuesday afternoon.

According to the invitation sent earlier in the day, the duo will meet tonight.

It is unclear if the parley will be private as during Ramadan, the president invites heads of security agencies and parastatals; lawmakers, religions and traditional leaders; businessmen, entertainment personalities, youths among others to break the fast with him.

The meeting will hold amid fresh probe of the former Kwara governor by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

On Tuesday, Ibrahim Magu, the acting chairman, declared that the fresh investigation of Saraki, was not a witch-hunt.

Magu said the commission does not witch-hunt any government official irrespective of their political background.

Addressing journalists at the EFCC’s headquarters in Abuja, Magu disclosed that the Commission only investigates people it suspects of being involved in corrupt practices.

“It is not personal, we are not after anybody. His case is not different from other individuals that are being investigated”, he said.

“The EFCC does not pursue people who do not have corruption cases. If you are not corrupt, we do not invite you. If you are not a 419 or internet fraudster, we would never invite you.

”We do our homework very well. Sometimes we conduct our investigations for up to six months, we have been investigating people for more than five years.”
