The Osun State governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has described the victory of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, as the best thing to happen Nigeria.

According to him, Nigeria has finally been delivered from the jaws of death after 16 years of socio-political and economic strains.

In a statement issued by the Director, Bureau of Communication and Strategy, Office of the Governor, Mr. Semiu Okanlawon, Aregbesola congratulated Nigerians for the doggedness, perseverance and commitment to voting out a party that had held them hostage for 16 years.

He described Buhari’s victory as the best thing that could happen to a nation that has been under political and economic strains, adding that the overall results of the elections and the general conducts of the electorate demonstrated that Nigerians really wanted change in the country.

Aregbesola also appealed to all other political parties to accept the results of the election with the spirit of sportsmanship, noting that the people have spoken through their votes.

He said: “I congratulate Nigerians for their steadfastness and commitment to a better Nigeria in the way they have come out right from the collection of permanent voters cards, which gave them the opportunity to exercise their civic responsibilities; their turn out during the election and their peaceful conducts.

“The victory of the APC in the general elections should, therefore be seen as the triumph of democracy in Nigeria borne out of the people’s will and aspirations rather than the showing of strength of any political party or individuals.”
