Buhari’s return signals better days ahead of Nigeria – CISLAC

The Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC) has expressed delight at the return of President Muhammadu Buhari after 103 days in London on medical vacation.

It described it as a welcome development that sent strong signal to Nigerians that things would get better going forward.

In a telephone chat with DAILY POST, the Senior Programme Officer of CISLAC, Mr. Kolawole Banwo, said President Buhari’s return had rekindled the confidence of Nigerians in the federal government.

He stressing that his personality and presence as Commander-in-Chief drives his administration forward.

Banwo also commended the Vice-president, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, for job well done in the absence of the President, adding that CISLAC will continue to engage the Presidency to ensure that it delivers its promises to the Nigerian people.

He said: “President Muhammadu Buhari’s return is a welcome development. CISLAC as an organization prayed for the speedy recovery of the President. We also prayed for him as individuals. His return means that our prayers have been answered.

“It is obvious governance has not be smooth sailing in his absence, because there is a way President Buhari’s personality and presence drives his administration forward. That is exactly what we have been asking missing.

“However, his return has rekindled our confidence in the federal government and has also sent a strong signal to Nigerians that things will get better going forward.

“We must commend the Vice-President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, for job well done in the absence of the President. He has been exceptional. We must give him that credit. However, there is something about having the President and Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces on ground in a nation.

“We hope to continue to engage the APC-led government of President Buhari, in the near future, to ensure the promises made to Nigerians in 2015 are fulfilled.”
