Two people were said to have been killed ahead of General Buhari’s visit to Maiduguri, when some mob alleged to be APC youths stormed the PDP campaign office of former governor, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, setting the entire complex ablaze.
The youths who were seen chanting “Sai Buhari” started burning down posters and billboards belonging to the PDP, after which they moved to the campaign office of the PDP where they attack some PDP youths, killing two of the youthS before setting the complex on fire.
According to eyewitnesses, the youths carrying all sorts of weapons blocked all major roads around Ramat Square as they checked for vehicles with PDP posters or stickers to vandalize.
“Police were present at the place but they cannot stop them because they were carrying guns. We had to run for our lives but they caught up with some youths and hacked them with machetes ” Samaila Ibrahim, one of the youths at the UTC campaign office told newsmen.
He said the APC youths came in large number and took over the UTC campaign office before they started burning flags belonging to the PDP and when they saw that crowd started gathering at the Ramat Square, they went ahead to set the PDP office ablaze.
DAILY POST however reports that, soldiers have now been dispatched to control the youths and maintain peace around the Ramat Square in Maiduguri.
