Buhari’s policies worse than military rule actions – PDP

The Abia state chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Johnson Onuigbo, has declared that the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government has exhibited actions worse than what obtained under military rule.

Onuigbo made this known in a speech during the presentation of flags to PDP candidates held at the International Conference Centre (ICC), Umuahia.

He decried the appointment of Hajia Amina Zakari as head of INEC collation centre and the military siege to the offices of Daily Trust newspapers.

Onuigbo regretted that the present All Progressives Congress-led federal government was yet to imbibe the tenet of democracy by allegedly exhibiting actions that were inimical to the development of democracy.

The PDP chairman stated that the military invasion of the media house gave an impression of muzzling of the press which does not give room for freedom of expression in a democratic dispensation.

He berated the President for withholding assent to the electoral bill and urged him to sign the bill as it would guarantee free, fair and credible polls.

On the presentation of flags to PDP candidates in the forthcoming elections, Onuigbo said, “The exercise is to bolster their confidence and also to confirm that they are now actually the party flag bearers after surviving the rigours of the primaries”.

He charged those presented with flags to go into serious campaign in their constituencies and sell their candidatures and secure victory for the party in the upcoming polls.
