Buhari’s economic policies are not archaic, opaque – Adeosun replies Ezekweisili

The Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun on Thursday disagreed with claims by ex-Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili that the economic policies of President Muhammadu Buhari administration were “archaic and opaque.”

Adeosun while featuring on Channels TV programme said Buhari was handling the economic situation with a planned strategy, although there is no quick fixes to the country’s economic troubles.

Adeosun said, “I disagree with Mrs Ezekwesili.

“The present government has a planned economy and does not operate a command and control economic system as alleged by the former minister.

“There are no quick solutions to the current economic woes. We are going to pump N350 billion into the economy until we see growth. The job will be done painstakingly, and we will come out of it better.”

Adeosun pointed out leakages in revenues of Departments and agencies as the biggest challenges facing the Buhari’s administration.

DAILY POST recalls that Ezekwesili had last week in Abuja described the Buhari’s exonomic policies as “Opeque and Archaic.”

She had accused the President of rehashing his “command and control” approach to economic issues adopted during his first time as military Head of State in 1984.

Ezekwesili has alleged tbat the distortion of the foreign exchange system by the current administration has left the poor it sought to protect to suffer while encouraging corruption with his economic policies.
