The Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo has categorically assured Nigerians that President Muhammadu Buhari, and his economic team will do their best to fix Nigerian economy and rid the nation of corrupt practices.
Osinbajo, who stated this yesterday during the grand finale of the annual Ereke Day festival held in Ikenne, Ogun State, stressed that the nation cannot be allowed to continue in its mess.
He went on to state that his generation and other young people from Ikenne town would perform better because late Chief Obafemi Awolowo had prayed that the young generation of people from Ikenne would be greater than him.
In an interaction with newsmen after the event, Osinbajo disclosed that the Federal Government would play important roles in the burial of the late matriarch of the Awolowo
dynasty, Chief Mrs. Hannah Idowu Dideolu Awolowo.
He disclosed that the reason was because the late HID was not just the wife of the first Premier of Western Region of Nigeria but wife of the first Leader of Opposition in Nigerian parliament and former Vice Chairman of the Federal Executive Council and Federal Commissioner of Finance.
He lamented that though Ikenne was one of the greatest towns in Nigeria and the world which has produced 10 Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs), among which he is one, its development was still far below expectation.
“For a town that produced the first Premier of Western Region, 10 Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs), first Leader of Opposition in Nigeria and the current Vice President of the country, its development needs to be more than this,” he said.
He, however, promised to do all within his capacity to ensure the youths of the town are mobilized and encouraged to foster the development of the town.
