Buhari’s aide, Juliet Ibekaku sponsoring crisis in our party – Enugu APC

The Enugu State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, on Tuesday accused Mrs. Juliet Ibekaku, an aide to President Muhammadu Buhari of sponsoring the crisis in the party.

Ibekaku is the Senior Special Assistant to President Buhari on Justice Reform.

The allegation was made in a resolution read to the media by Barr. Ben Nwoye, the Enugu APC Chairman, after the State Executive Committee meeting of the party.

This is also as security agents, made up of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, FSARS, mobile policemen and men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, were stationed at various locations within and outside the APC secretariat located along Park Avenue, GRA, Enugu.

Nwoye said the development was in connection with the arrest of some armed youths earlier in the day, who had come to destabilize the scheduled meeting.

DAILY POST recalls that the crisis rocking the APC worsened on Monday as some members of the State Working Committee, led by the Deputy Chairman, Mr. Adolphus Udeh held an emergency meeting where they announced Nwoye’s suspension from the party.

But Nwoye had in a swift reaction told DAILY POST that the said suspension was “an exercise in futility, a mere drama that had not place in Article 21 of the APC Constitution“.

Consequently, on Tuesday, he (Nwoye) convened a meeting of the SEC where far reaching decisions were taken.

In the 10-point resolution after the meeting, the SEC announced the suspension of the factional chairman, Mr. Udeh.

They resolved as follows: “That we have passed a vote of confidence on the State Chairman, Dr. Ben Nwoye;

“That based on the report of the fact-finding/disciplinary committee set up to investigate the allegation against the Deputy Chairman of the party, Mr. Adolphus Udeh, the said Deputy Chairman stands expelled from the party with effect from today, 4th, 2017;

“That the State Executive Committee in its entirety condemned the barbaric, criminal and anti-party activities of undersirable elements in the party for having invaded the party office and announced the removal of the State Party chairman in a coup d’etat fashion and carted away vital party documents, including financial records on Monday 3rd July, 2017;

“That the State Executive Committee hereby resolved to setup a disciplinary committee to recommend appropriate sanction to be meted out on the above listed individuals in accordance with our party Constitution.”

While accusing Ibekaku of funding the crisis owing to her Senatorial ambition, the party declared that it gathered from a dependable source that “the virus in the party was introduced and nurtured by Barr. Mrs. Juliet Ibekaku, Senior Special Assistant to the President attached to the Minister for Justice and Attorney General of the Federation;

“That the State Executive Committee hereby condemns the attitude of Mrs. Ibekaku in the party by funding the destabilization of the party structure to suit her selfish political aspirations;

“That the State Executive Committee resolved that no member of the State Executive Committee is answerable to the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, or any other government appointee;

“That the Enugu State All Progressives Congress is peaceful and remains united.”
