Buhari inaugurates NEC


President Muhammadu Buhari, Monday, inaugurated the National Economic Council led by Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, calling on state governors to urgently find a way to offset salary arrears of their workers.

The National Economic Council, made up of of the 36 state governors and the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, is saddled with the responsibility of advising the President on economic affairs of the country.

At the inauguration, President Buhari urged members to come up with ways of liquidating outstanding salaries and wages across the country, reinstating his administration’s commitment to confronting insecurity, corruption and other social vices headlong.

He also called on the governors to devise ways of expanding their sources of revenue so as to cushion the effects of dwindling revenue from the federation account.
