President Muhammadu Buhari has donated about N200 million ($1 milliom) for Ebola recovery and reconstruction in Africa.
The president made the announcement at the International Conference on Africa’s Fight Against Ebola, in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, on Tuesday, July 21, 2015.
He was represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Health, Linus Awute.
Buhari, while recalling Nigeria’s effort in combating the Ebola virus in 2014, however noted that “Nigeria is not celebrating the end of Ebola in Nigeria until this disease is totally eliminated from the West African region. This is because Ebola in one country remains also a threat to another.”
He, therefore, posited that meeting the challenge was “crucial to us right now and so we remain committed to support all efforts of the African Union in this fight”.
