President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated the Nigeria female basketball team, for winning this year’s Afrobasket hosted in Bamako, Mali.
A message on Buhari’s Twitter page read: “Congratulations to D’Tigress on the 2017 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket tournament win, & qualifying for the 2018 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup.”
Nigeria emerged winners of the 2017 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket Championship, by defeating Senegal 65-48 in the final on Sunday .
Sam Vincent’s ladies had beaten hosts Mali 48-47 in the semi-final on Saturday, to secure one of the two FIBA World Cup tickets available to Africa.
D’Tigress also emerged champions without losing a single game throughout the competition.
