Buhari campaign dares CUPP over ‘Daura’s alleged plot to steal N5bn from DSS’

The Buhari Campaign Organisation (BCO) has dared the Coalition of Political Parties (CUPP) to release evidence that President Muhammadu Buhari was planning to influence the forthcoming election.

The spokesman of CUPP, Imo Ugochinyere, had alleged that Lawal Daura, former DG of the Department of State Services (DSS), was planning to steal N5bn from the agency’s account to rig the polls.

According to him, there was also a plan to arrest and keep him away until after elections, because he was in possession of copies of asset declaration forms of some top government officials, including that of the Minister of State, Petroleum Resources, Ibe Kachikwu.

In a statement by its Director of Communications and Strategic Planning, Mallam Gidado Ibrahim, the BCO said Ugochinyere was in the business of pulling President Buhari down at all cost.

“Ugochinyere is beginning to create an exaggerated air of importance about himself to the extent that he thinks he has become too important for the DSS to waste precious time plotting his arrest”, it noted.

“He is not only labouring under a delusion; he is in the shadow of his own goal post.

“He claims the purported plan to arrest him is to stop him from releasing fresh evidence of plot to allegedly steal N5 billion from DSS election account by former DG DSS Lawal Daura and indicting documents of false assets declaration by key Buhari govt appointees.

“But if he truly has such evidence as he claims, why not release them instead of raising false alarm? Why not release the evidence at the press conference before the arrest plot is perfected?”
