Buhari beats Osinbajo, Ministers, begins FEC meeting 10 minutes to take-off time

President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday arrived “too early” for today’s Federal Executive Council, FEC, meeting, beating Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo and some other ministers to arrive the Council Chambers even before the 10am scheduled time.

He stepped into the hall at about 9.50am and upon noting the absence of most of the council members, he said: “I came too early.” Thereafter, he asked the handful of FEC members already in attendance to recite the National Anthem.

At the time the meeting started, only about 19 out of the 36 ministers were in attendance. The Head of Service of the Federation, Winifred Oyo-Ita and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, were also in attendance.

It was by the time the meeting went into closed-door session that some other members namely: Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo; Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari; National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno; Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige; and Minister of State, Foreign Affairs, Khadija Bukar Abba arrived for the meeting.

Many of them, who were seen checking their time and rushing into the hall upon discovery that the meeting had started, were, however, apparently not late as they went in at about five minutes to the usual kick off time.
