President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has polled 17,765 votes in Girei LGA to beat Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who got 14,673 votes.
The Girei LGA collation officer, Dr Ahmed Umar, who announced the result, said 33,255 valid votes were counted out of 35,455 people accredited for voting.
Several other political parties shared votes in very small volumes, including the African Democratic Congress (ADC) which got as many as 94 votes and the likes of Accord Party (A) and Action Alliance (AA) which polled as few as one each.
Girei is one of the LGAs nearest to the state collation centre in Jimeta, but the results of Yola North, home to the collation centre, were yet to arrive at the centre, a little after 7pm when this report was filed on Sunday.
The results from the other Adamawa’s 21 LGAs were similarly still being awaited.
