The group said this was necessary to avoid heating the polity and causing panic to the general public.

The group in a statement signed its the chairman, Mr Charles Sylvester described wishes of death for another person as inhuman.

It urged Nigerians to “pray for the President’s good health and for God to grant him the strength and wisdom to lead our country to greatness”.

Continuing he said, “The mongers have brought emotional pain and torture not only to the members of the president’s immediate family, but to his friends, associates and indeed many Nigerians who had been distressed by the evil rumour”.

The statement warned that the rumors could also cost the country a lot of investment due to the unwarranted uncertainty caused by the peddlers.

“We commend the President on the efforts of his government and the armed forces in defeating Boko Haram and creating a better security for investors in Nigeria.

“We should all unite and support the government by capitalising on such gains”, it added.

The group further expressed hope that the government would overcome current economic challenges and get the country out of recession.
