Suspended House of Representatives member, Abdulmumin Jibrin, has called on the Presidency to prevail on principal officers of the House he indicted in the 2016 budget padding allegation to step down while investigation into the matter is on-going.
He made the call while reacting to the presidency’s stance that some alleged corrupt judges involved in the ongoing investigation by security agencies should step aside.
Jibrin, who took to his Twitter handle @AbdulAbmJ, wrote: “This is great! But Presidency, do the same in respect of the corrupt cabal in House of Reps. This is 95 days after”.
Recall that the former Chairman, House Committee on Appropriations, had accused Dogara, his Deputy, Hon. Yussuff Lasun; the Minority Leader, Hon. Leo Ogor; and the Chief Whip, Hon. Hassan Ado Doguwa of allegedly inserting N30bn into the 2016 budget.
The Kano lawmaker, in a bid to prove his allegations against the principal officers of the Lower Legislative Chamber, had submitted petitions with various security agencies in the country.
Jibrin was however, suspended for 180 legislative days in September after he refused to appear before the House Committee on Ethics and Privileges to defend his allegations against the leadership of the House.
