Former chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Appropriations, Abdulmumin Jibrin, who had accused the Speaker of the House, Yakubu Dogara and 13 other lawmakers of corruption, on Tuesday morning, insinuated that being a whistle blower does not make him a saint.
He tweeted on @AbdulAbmJ, “A whistleblower is NOT necessarily a saint but he or she is supported for what he reveals that is of benefit to all”.
Jibrin called on Nigerians to support him in his quest to salvage the House and Nigeria from corruption.
“It was a pleasure meeting the social media community in person today. We must join hands to salvage the House and Nigeria from corruption.”
The House, had upon resumption, referred the allegation of budget padding to the Ethics and Privileges committee for further investigation, before which Jibrin however refused to appear.
The House of Representatives last week suspended the former Chairman of Appropriation Committee for a period of 180 legislative days for bringing sensitive House issues to the public domain.
Upon resumption, the House had referred the allegation to the Ethics and Privileges committee for investigation.
The House also barred the embattled lawmaker from holding positions of responsibility till the end of the 8th Assembly, while his office was later sealed, an action he claimed was a move by Dogara to destroy evidence.
