The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has commenced investigation into the budget padding allegation levelled against the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara and other principal members of the house.
The anti-graft agency, made the disclosure in a letter inviting Abdulmumin Jibrin to shed more light on his budget padding allegation against the Speaker and other principal members of the House.
The letter to Jibrin was dated June 9, 2017 and signed by the acting Head, Extractive Industry and Fraud Section, Michael Wetkas.
The letter reads: “The commission has commenced investigation into the petition of corruption and corrupt practices and abuse of office reported on August 1, 2016 by Hammart & co (Tafida chambers) on your behalf against Yakubu Dogara, Yusuf Lasun, Alhassan Ado Doguwa, Leonard Okuweh Ogor and others.
“In furtherance of the investigation and due to unfolding findings, it has become imperative to request that you attend another interview with the team through Ibrahim Ahmed on June 13, 2017 at 3rd floor Block A, No 5 Fomella Street, off Adetokunbo Ademola Crescent Wuse 2, Abuja by 10am to clarify some issues to enable us conclude investigations.”
Jibrin, a former chairman of the House appropriation committee had accused Dogara of inflating the budget.
Against this backdrop, Jibrin had petitioned the EFCC and other security agencies.
