Bring out my mother and I will forgive you – Sylva’s runing mate, Igiri tells kidnappers

Chief Wilberforce Igiri, the running mate to the All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship candidate in Bayelsa State, Chief Timipre Sylva, has explained why his 105-year-old mother, Madam Ebifeighe Dikoro was abducted by some gunmen.

Igiri said the kidnappers were victims of the poor youth empowerment and development policies of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party led-administration in the state.

Speaking at an APC Workshop on the development of locally-based agenda for the Sylva-Igiri administration if voted into power, the politician said the abduction of his centenarian mother had brought to the public domain, the poor security, social and youth policies of the current administration in Bayelsa State.

The deputy governorship candidate said, “Let me say I want to thank the youths involved in the abduction of my mother. The incident was timely. It shows that those youths were not encouraged by the present administration.

“I don’t blame them. Let them bring out my mother and I will forgive them. I have discovered that if they had been engaged and empowered through proper education and youths empowerment policies, they would not have done what they did. I believe my mother is coming back.”

He also called on supporters of the APC in the state to avoid campaign of calumny and name calling.

He insisted that the Sylva-Igiri campaign would be issue-based.

“Don’t insult anybody. We believe in issue-based campaigns. Let them be backbiting and we will keep moving forward,” he stated.
