An Abeokuta Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday remanded in prison a 20-year-old, Victor Ayomide, for allegedly abducting and sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl.
Victor, who resides in Oke Itoku area of Abeokuta, is facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, unlawful abduction and indecent assault.
Prosecutor, Insp. Olakunle Shonibare, said the accused committed the offences with others still at large between July 27 and August 3 at Isale-Abese, Ijaiye in the state capital.
Shonibare said the accused unlawfully detained the girl (name withheld) and kept her in his house for the purpose having carnal knowledge of her without the knowledge of her parents.
The accused indecently assaulted the girl, he said.
The offences contravened Sections 361, 360 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun 2006.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Magistrate Idowu Olayinka granted the accused a N50,000 bail with two sureties in like sum.
Olayinka said the sureties, who must be blood relations of the accused, must reside within the court’s jurisdiction.
