Marc Pugh and Matt Richie scored within six minutes at the end of the first half, to give the hosts a comfortable lead, before Callum Wilson sealed victory in the 78th minute.
Last week, Watford became the first team to gain promotion from the Championship, ending an eight-year absence from the top flight.
Watford would have been named winners of the Championship, if Bournemouth failed to win at home to Bolton.
Bournemouth are away to Charlton Athletic in their next league game, while Watford will host SheffieldWednesday.
