The National Orientation Agency (NOA) in Borno state has called on politicians to desist from using displaced person’s camp as campaign grounds.

The state Director, Mallam Yahya Imam made the call on Monday while speaking with our correspondent on the attitude of politicians who are capitalizing on the misfortune of the victims of the insurgency to sell themselves ahead of the 2015 general election in the state.

Imam said some politicians were turning some of the Internally Displaced Persons(IDP) camps to political grounds under the cover of providing relief materials for traumatized people, saying such was not accepted.

He explained that the ban on political campaigns were yet to be lifted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

“The ban on political campaigns were yet to be lifted by INEC and even if it was, it is ungodly to campaign to people who were suffering from physical and psychological pains at this point in time.

“NOA is calling on all displaced persons to remain united, apolitical and show love to one another during these trying moments in the camps.

“IDP camps should be spared of political activities of all kinds as victims are expected to be united in continuous prayers for peace and unity to reign in the state”. He observed.
