Borno lawmaker distributes 14 vehicles, relief materials to Ward Chairmen, IDPs


The member representing Hawul State Constituency at the Borno State House of Assembly, Hon. Ayuba Stephen Wakawa yesterday distributed 13 Golf Saloon vehicles and a Peugeot 407 to each of the All Progressive Congress (APC) ward chairmen and some of his supporters in Hawul Local Government Area of the state.

This is in addition to his concern for the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) where he purchased assorted bags of rice, maize and other foodstuff worth N2.5 million and distributed to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) from the constituency who are currently taking refuge at various camps as a result of Boko Haram deadly attacks.

Distributing the vehicles in Maiduguri with many Hawul APC stakeholders in attendance,including the former Deputy Governor of the state, Alhaji Ali Abubakar Jatau, the immediate past Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Honourable Usman Mamman Durkwa, the Lawmaker said, the gesture was to cushion the hardship being faced by the people of the Constituency.

Wakawa said, as Lawmaker representing Hawul at the state House of Assembly, it is incumbent on him to deliver dividends of democracy to the people at the grassroot level, pointing out that in the last three and half years, he was able to distribute over 100 motorcycles and tricycles to youth, drilled many boreholes in Shindiffu, Shaffa, Tashan Alade, Sabon Kasuwa, Kwaya -Bura communities in addition to provision of cement wells in different areas of the Council.

He explained that with the cordial relationship that exists between the executives and the legislature, Governor Kashim Shettima approved the upgrading of Government Day Secondary School, Marama to a boarding School, in which, massive construction of additional new classroom blocks, library complex and other infrastructures needed for its smooth take-off were put in place. He stated further that the projects which has since been completed attracted many students from many communities in the council for enrollment as well as provided job opportunities to the people of the area.

He therefore pledged to do more people -oriented projects when re-elected in the next year’s general elections in the state, and however called on the people irrespective of their religious inclinations to continue to pray God Almighty to restore peace not only in the state, but the country in general.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, the APC Ward Chairman of Shaffa, Mallam Mohammed Shaffa thanked the Lawmaker for the gesture and promised that they will all rally round him to ensure the victory of APC in Hawul and the state during the forth coming general elections.
