In their renewed attacks on schools, students and teachers, gunmen suspected to be members of the dreaded Islamic sect, Boko Haram has attacked and brutally killed a Mathematics teacher, Mr. Chibok of Government Secondary School Damboa in Damboa local government area of Borno state.

DailyPost had gathered that the incident which occurred on Saturday shocked almost all the teachers in the local government, as some of them are beginning to make effort towards moving out of Borno state.

A teacher in the school who did not want his name in print told our Correspondent that government, particularly the Borno state government under Governor Kashim Shettima is treating the insurgents with “soft palm”

According to him, ” While we all believe that this problem started during the last administration under Governor Sheriff, the situation did not at all go beyond what we are now witnessing. Today, our brothers, our colleagues and all of us are being killed before our families. This is sad and government is not pursuing harder to ensure it finally subdues these several attacks.

“Our education sector is threaten, we do not know our crime in this. All we know is the war going on between government, Politicians, Contractors and Religous fundamentalists. We are poor people who are working very hard to meet the needs of our families and to impact knowledge for the development of our society. We did not abuse anyone of them or call them names, but schools, teachers and students are being destroyed, killed and rendered incapacitated.”

Also one of the town’s men of Mr. Chibok, the late Mathematician, Paul Dzakwa told Daily Post that, Mr. Chibok was killed while on his way to Chibok from Damboa on Saturday.

According to him,”He was the target because they did not touch the people that were with him in the vehicle. I learnt that he was threatened before and they were studying his movements.

Those who were with him when it happened said while they were travelling, they suddenly saw two motorcycles behind them.

“You know the road is rough, so one of the motorcycles overtook them and stopped infront of them , so, he stopped and they attacked and brutally murdered him.” he said.

Daily Post made several attempts to confirm the news from the Police but the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Gideon Jibril’s phone was not going through as at time this report was filed.
