Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno State alongside elders and the emirate council of the state yesterday paid homage to the BringBackOurGirls (BBOG) group for their continued advocacy geared towards the rescue of the remaining Chibok girls abducted by the Boko Haram sect.

Conveying the message of the Borno people to the group at its sit-out session on Tuesday, Senator Ali Ndume who represents Borno South at the National Assembly said the Borno people cannot be thankful enough for the efforts of the BBOG and pledged to always support the activities of the group.

Ndume, who observed that the group is not a political group, said there was the need for the Borno people to appreciate the group which has always stood for the people of the North in the fight against insurgency.

Disclosing the position of his people in the fight against insurgency, the senator expressed optimism that the insurgency can be ended soonest but identified federal government’s lack of seriousness as the main reason for the continued existence of Boko Haram.
