The bomb scare rocking many parts of Nigeria took its toll on the Shoprite Shopping Mall, Enugu on Thursday, forcing shop owners to shut doors against customers.
It took the swift intervention of the Enugu State Commissioner of Police, Mohamed Abubakar Adamu for normalcy to return to the Mall.
In a press statement issued after the Commissioner’s visit to the Mall, he urged members of the public to always know the type of information they pass to their friends and relations in order to avoid unnecessary panic and chaos in their environment.
The press statement, which was signed by the police spokesman in the state, DSP, Ebere Amaraizu, affirmed that the Commissioner visited the mall with his Key officers “to re assure the operatives of the mall on their security”.
He said it was against the information widely spread by yet to be identified people that the shopping mall was no longer safe for business leading to an alleged bomb scare in the shoprite.
“Meanwhile, security has been beefed up at the Shoprite mall with men of anti bomb squad of the Enugu state police command sweeping all the premises with their anti explosive apparatus”.
At the moment, business activities have resumed in the shopping mall.
