United Nations Civil – Military Coordinators led by Maj Gen Moses Bisong Obi (Rtd) have called for closer cooperation between 8 Task Force Division and the Coordinators.
Maj Gen Obi made the call during a visit yesterday to the Division Headquarters in Monguno.
He explained that the purpose of the visit was to review civil – military coordination environment and also provide recommendation for the development of a civil – military coordination strategy for humanitarian emergency response in the North East.
General Obi who is also the United Nations’ civil military security adviser in Abuja commended the Army for restoring peace and order in the North East.
He observed that because of the improved security in the region, Non Governmental Organisations were finding their ways to reach more rural areas to bring relief to internally displaced persons.
In his response, the General Officer Commanding 8 Task Force Division, Maj Gen Abdul Nani who was represented by the Commander 48 Engineer Brigade, Brigadier General Jonathan Garnvwa thanked the coordinators for their commitment to changing the adverse humanitarian situation in the North East and pledged to deepen cooperation with the coordinators.
