Twin bomb blast, which occurred at exactly 12:30 noon at Duruwa, a local alcohol joint as well as the the office of the vigilante group in Potiskum town of Potiskum local government area of Yobe state has left no fewer than 13 persons dead. Nine persons were equally injured in the blast and have since been taken to the Potiskum General Hospital.
A local vigilante who spoke with DAILY POST Correspondent via mobile phone and identified himself as Alhaji Dogara Usman said, the Commander of the vigilante group, Alhaji Ado Commander was one of the 13 persons killed in the blast.
According to Dogara, the Suicide bomber had targeted their office, and particularly their Commander, who has been very active in helping the military in the fight against Insurgency in the northeast.
He said, “We have been giving them (Boko Haram) tough time around Potiskum and environs and have arrested so many Boko Haram fighters including some of their commanders, who are currently in the custody of security agencies. I believe that triggered this incident, but I tell you this would not deter us from making sure that the fight against insurgents is won.”
A source in Potiskum, who earlier informed Our Correspondent about the blast said, pieces of human flash littered the local “Burkutu” joint.
According him, they evacuated six corpses and four injured persons, ” It was horrible, when we heard the blast and rushed to the scene. Human flesh littered everywhere. Those we can identify as incomplete human beings were six and we took those corpses to the hospital. Those that cannot be identified were carried inside bags. We really don’t know how many corpses are in there.”
