Boko Haram sponsors have taken over Jonathan’s government – Okogie

Retired Archbishop of the Catholic Archdiocese, Anthony Cardinal Olubunmi Okogie, said those with links to Boko Haram have infiltrated President Goodluck Jonathan’s government set up, hence the fuelling of insurgency in the country.

He told Sunday Independent that such Fifth Columns leak information to terrorists, thereby endangering the lives of the Nigerian forces.

“If the president can be bold enough and muster political will, they will be conquered,” Okogie said.

“Let us be careful so that the bad prophesy that Nigeria will divide come 2015 will not materialise”, added the former President of Christian Association Of Nigeria.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian military has described as wicked and unfounded allegations that troops who recaptured Mubi, in Adamawa State from Boko Haram insurgents, forcefully conscripted civilians, killing some in the process during the fierce operation.

It said that such allegations coming at a time when the troops were being accused of human rights violation, was a further calculated attempt by the enemies of Nigeria to drag the name of the military in the mud.

Director, Army Information, Brig. General Olajide Olaleye, said “The allegation is wicked as it is coming on the heels of efforts to address issues of human rights”.

He maintained that discipline, professionalism and patriotism were virtues the Nigerian Army adhered to during all operations.
