Boko Haram: Nigerian troops rescue six persons abducted by insurgents in Yobe

Troops of 27 Brigade Nigerian Army, on Operation LAFIYA DOLE deployed at Kamuya, Yobe State have rescued six persons kidnapped by members of the Boko Haram sect in the State.

Army said they received report from some herdsmen that some suspected Boko Haram terrorists had abducted six persons from their village.

Brigadier Sani Kukasheka Usman, Director Army Public Relations in a statement said, the troops in conjunction with local vigilante familiar with the area trailed the terrorists up to Mangari village about 20 kilometres away from Kamuya, where they exchanged fire with them.

He said the troops neutralized two of the terrorists and rescued the abducted persons.

The troops also recovered 2 AK-47 rifles.

The statement added that the rescued persons have been reunited with their families.
