As efforts to reclaim territories seized by the violent islamist group, Boko Haram continues, the Defence Headquarters has announced the successful takeover of Gombi, Pelia and Hong, all in Adamawa State from the terrorist group.
The announcement, made via the Defence Headquarters twitter handle, also said many of the terrorists were captured and many others killed while weapons and equipment were recovered.
The tweets say “Update: Our troops are in full control of Gombi, Pelia and Hong as operations to clear all areas infested by terrorists continue”.
In another tweet that followed in quick succession, the Defence Headquarters said: “Many terrorists are being captured as some die. Weapons and Equipment are also being recovered. Mopping up ongoing in the area even now.”
It will be recalled that Boko Haram insurgents have become bolder lately, taking over territories and declaring caliphates, but the military backed by local hunters, vigilantes and the Civilian JTF has had some successes pushing the insurgents back and recovering seized territories from them.
