Gov. Ibrahim Gaidam of Yobe on Thursday said Nigeria under President Muhammadu Buhari had a new military with determination to fight and defeat insurgency.

Gaidam stated this in Damaturu while receiving the new Commandant of the 27 Joint Task Force Brigade, Brig.-Gen. Chinenye Ekwesi.

He said the Buhari-led administration gave the military a rebirth and necessary equipment to fight and defeat Boko Haram insurgency.

Gaidam assured the military of continuous support and cooperation to effectively defeat Boko Haram in the state and the country.

“We are confident that Boko Haram will in the next few months be history in Nigeria,” he said.

Earlier, Ekwesi solicited the support of the government and people of the state, especially by offering useful information to the military to enable it to succeed in the fight against terrorism.

“We have the mandate of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, to ensure that Yobe is safe and secure, we will leave no stone unturned to achieve that,” he said. (NAN)
