“We will reinforce the security and ensure that they are protected. The government is not happy at all with the level of insurgency and insecurity in the country, ” he said

While expressing happiness for the warmth welcome accorded him, the Army Chief said, “I am highly pleased to be here this evening. This is a home coming for me. I left here in a different capacity. I left here officially to the NDA as a cadet in 1981. I started as a cadet officer and thanks be to God for making me the number one Nigerian Army Officer. This is my first official courtesy call since I assumed office as Chief of Army Staff. I am highly privileged to be received here by your royal highness.

“And I want to state here that the peace and tranquility that has always been associated with the people of Borno state is about to return. Since my appointment, I have been following developments and the pronouncement of President Muhammadu Buhari on the need to end the insurgency.

“I have coined for myself a vision which is to have a professionally responsive Nigerian Army in the discharge of its constitutional roles. And with this vision I intend to pursue it so that we would have truly responsive Army that is responsible in the discharge of its constitutional roles. We would solicit the support of your highness in reassuring the good people of Borno that we are here to protect them in the discharge of our constitutional duty. That we are here to protect human rights. That we are here to ensure that the good people of Borno enjoy peace once again,” he said.
