Boko Haram kills officer, four soldiers

Boko Haram insurgents have killed five soldiers, including a Lieutenant during a gun duel in Magumeri town, Borno State.

Disclosing this in a terse statement on Friday, the Director, Army Public Relations, Brig. Gen. Sani Usman, who did not disclose the names of the deceased soldiers, said three others were missing in action.

According to Usman, “Troops chased fleeing Boko Haram Terrorists up to Doho, Mina Maideni, Donari, Salari, and Lawari villages.

“After hot pursuit and mop up the troops were able to neutralise an unconfirmed number of Boko Haram terrorists.

“Unfortunately we lost an officer and four soldiers, while three others were still missing.”

The incident came at a time when the elusive leader of the insurgent group, Abubakar Shekau vowed to overrun Africa and enthrone Sharia.
