The Joint Task Force, Operation Restore Order in Borno state has dismissed some media reports that Momodu Bama, the second in command to the Boko Haram spiritual leader, Abubakar Shekau was killed in Mubi, Adamawa state.
The JTF said that he (Momodu Bama) was actually killed alongside his father, Abatcha Flatari. in a battle at Bama town.
A statement, which was signed by the JTF spokesman, Lt Col. Sagir Musa in Maiduguri and made available to newsmen on Wednesday revealed that the JTF after killing the man on whose head the sum of N25 million bounty was placed, waited to ascertain that he was actually the person killed, but they read in the papers that same person was said to have been killed in Mubi by soldiers.
According to the statement, JTF during the Boko Haram terrorists attack on mobile Police base and Bama town on 4 August 2013 killed Momodu Bama aka Abu Saad, and his father Abatcha Flatari.
The statement also said that Momodu Bama was the terrorist’s operation officer and second in command to Abubakar Shekau, the terrorists leader.
“Bama was one of the most vicious and heartless killers in the group with penchant for slaughtering his victims. He had a bounty of 25 million naira place on him by the JTF.
“Momodu Bama’s father, Abatcha Flatari was one of the spiritual mentors of Boko Haram terrorists in charge of indoctrinating child foot soldiers who are mainly abducted children and both were killed during the terrorists attack on Bama”, the JTF insisted.
