A resident of the village, who spoke from a hiding place, said, “The suspected insurgents came to our village at about 5:10 pm today (Wednesday) from Goniri axis. Some persons who sighted them have informed us that the attackers are heading to Katarko.

“They came in a convoy of 10 trucks with heavy weapons and they started shooting sporadically something that forced us to run for our lives.

“As I am talking to you there are over 2000 men, women and children who fled their homes and now with us in the bush.”

Efforts were made to contact the 27 Taskforce Brigade’s Spokesperson and the state commissioner of Police all prove abortive as they were not responding to calls made to them.

Recall that the military location was attacked on the November 7, 2018 where the insurgents razed it down.
