The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai, has told troops deployed to the Northeast that they have what it takes to flush out the remnants of Boko Haram terrorists wherever they are hibernating.
The Army boss gave the charge yesterday, while addressing armed forces special forces battalion at their base in Borno State.
This was contained in a statement by the Director Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Sani Kukasheka Usman on his verified Facebook page.
Buratai was quoted as telling the troops that, they were deployed to the Northeast in order to fill in observed gaps and make a difference in the fight against terrorism and insurgency in Nigeria.
He further said that, they have all it takes to do the job, while urging them to work together as a team.
“Nigerian armed forces have done a great job in the Northeast in terms of degrading the Boko Haram terrorists. The attained success must be consolidated as they are adequately trained, equipped and with superior tactics than the terrorists”, the Army Chief stressed.
Lieutenant General Buratai implored the troops to dominate everywhere in the theatre and deny the terrorists freedom of action and movement.
The statement noted that, the visiting COAS had dinner alone with the troops at which they bared their minds where he also provided answers.
According to the statement, the Chief of Army Staff also paid a similar visit to Army headquarters strike force group where he had one-on-one interaction with them and had dinner with the troops later in the evening.
