The ancient city of Maiduguri, Borno state capital was again thrown into a heavy pandemonium on Friday following a bomb explosion that rocked the city.

DailyPost gathered that the bomb which was targeted at some soldiers, left two people dead while nearby houses and shops were razed.

According to a statement by the army spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Sagir Musa, the two people killed were suspected to be the bombers.

He said “No civilian was killed or wounded,”

It is a fact that Maiduguri is the home base of Islamist extremist group, Boko Haram, which has carried out a violent campaign against the North.

It has been confirmed that over 3,000 people have lost their lives to Boko haram attacks since 2009. The military has come under heavy pressure to show progress in the fight against the dreaded group.
