Boko Haram: Attack on Kofa Village barbaric – Gov. Shettima

Borno state governor, Kashim Shettima, has described the attack on Kofa village by Boko Haram last Sunday as barbaric, adding that act of the insurgency at this holy month of Ramadan is demonic.

Shettima who was represented in a visit to the village by the Commissioner of Justice and Attorney General Borno State, Kaka Shehu Lawan, yesterday, called on the people of Kofa village to be very vigilant and report suspicious persons to the security agents nearest to them.

While urging the people to continue to pray for peace in the state, he said the attack carried out by two female suicide bombers, who detonated their explosives in kofa village at about 8.10 pm where they killed 16 people.

According to him, at about 8: 45 pm on Sunday 18th of June 2019, two female suicide bombers were intercepted when they tried to gain access into Dalori 2 IDP camp, adding that, if not for the vigilant security operatives, the disaster would have been more terrifying.

He said, a total of four suicide bombers were involved in the incident and that government would foot the bills for injured victims, who are currently receiving treatment in the hospitals.

Also the governor has directed the Executive Chairman of State Emergency Management Agency, Engr Satomi Ahmad to deliver food items to the people of Kofa village of Konduga local government as well as support the victims with a token for their immediate needs.

The governor also pledged to reconstruct and renovate the houses damaged by the insurgents.
