Yobe State Governor, Ibrahim Gaidam has called on the Nigerian military and all the security agencies engaged in the fight against Boko Haram insurgency not to relent until the terrorists are totally defeated and taken off the the North East.
The governor spoke on Friday when he received General Anthony Olu Folurunsho, the commander of the newly established Nigerian Counter-Terrorism and Counter-Insurgency Training School, Buni-Yadi, in his office.
He observed that recent Boko Haram attack on Kanamma Town, headquarters of Yunusari Local Government area of the state, showed that there was still work to be done, adding that the military should not relent.
“Although the military and other security agencies have turned the tide against Boko Haram terrorists to the extent that they are nearly defeated now, I want to urge you to remain on high alert.
“The operation Zaman Lafiya Dole now in force should be pursued to logical conclusion. It is extremely dangerous for the military to relax now,” the governor told the visiting army general.
General Fuluronsho thanked Governor Gaidam for the support, which the state government had rendered to the new counter-insurgency training school in Buni-Yadi, including the provision of land and accommodation for officers in the school.
