As part of its contribution to the host community and also activities marking the Nigerian Army Day Celebration, troops of 28 Task Force Brigade Nigerian Army are currently on community medical outreach to Chibok community in Borno state, where thousands of sick Internally Displaced Persons came out to receive medical attention.
Lt. Col. Kingsley Samuel, Deputy Director Army Public Relations, 7 division Nigerian Army on Saturday, said, so far the Army has treated over 300 Internally Displaced Persons in the Camp at Chibok.
According to him, the Chibok medical outreach was the desire of the Nigerian Army to reach out to areas particularly, Chibok community where there are a lot of medical needs for the internally displaced persons, which has overwhelmed the number of medical personals in the community and therefore, the need for the Army to come in to render free medical service to the community.
“So far, our medical personnel have attended to over 300 persons since morning and still counting. There thousands of people seeking medical attention and we believe that, with the number of medical personnel we have here all those seeking medical attention would be attended to.
” We are treating various cases ranging from BP to fever and other sickness affecting the IDPs. We have drugs for them, which is also free and I am sure the drugs are enough to take care of the patients. For those with life threatening diseases and those that needs certain operations, we would refer them to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital where they can be treated for their ailments,” hEDe said.
