The Nigerian Army on Wednesday called on Boko Haram militants to give up their arms and come out of hiding in order to obtain mercy.
The army also claimed that the leadership of the sect was currently in disarray, and therefore, is urging the foot soldiers to take decisive steps to secure their future in the ongoing anti-terror campaign.
A statement from Brigadier General Sani Kukasheka Usman, Director Army Public Relations said, “This is to call on the remnants of Boko Haram terrorists wherever you are hiding, to give up forthwith.
“This is because your ideology of Boko Haram is dead and no longer tenable.
“There is no reason to be suffering or fighting a lost cause.
“As you are aware, your leaders have abandoned you and could no longer be of any help to you.
“Therefore you should all surrender to avoid dying like dogs because of the ongoing concerted military clearance operations.”
While the call was on, villages around Maiduguri, have continued to complain of invasion and continuing conscription of their young men by the terrorists.
According to the villagers, the terrorists always came to remind them that any attempt to report when and how they came to the villages would result to paying with their own blood.
“Sometimes, their bring the girls, who are suicide bombers on motorcycles and drop them here, and they go back” , a local in Molai told DAILY POST sighting the attack last week in Molai.
