Boko Haram: Again, Governor Shettima carpets Military


Borno state governor, Kashim Shettima has emphasised on the need to support the Nigerian Military with locally recruited fighters to rescue Bama from the hands of the dreaded Boko Haram insurgents. Shettima said his government will arm some vigilante group popularly called civilian JTF with the necessary weapons to support the military in order to recover Bama from the Islamic Sect.

Shettima stated this on Tuesday, in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital when indigenes of Bama town led by Kolo Gudja paid him a courtesy call at the Maiduguri Government House.

It would be recalled that some months back, the state governor made an observation shortly after a meeting with the Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan, that the Boko Haram insurgents were more equipped than the Military.

DAILY POST also gathered that, during the meeting with the people of Bama, Governor Kashim Shettima gave them 20 million naira to assists them in cushioning the effect and the suffering they are passing through as a result of the happenings in Bama.

According to the governor, former governor, Ali Modu Sheriff is his boss, adding that people created the ongoing misunderstanding between them.

He said, he would reconcile with Sheriff, but vowed to fight all Sheriff’s boys who attempt to frustrate him.
