Boko Haram: 27 schools damaged in Borno, Yobe – NEMA

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) yesterday disclosed that 27 schools were affected seriously in both Yobe and Borno States in recent Boko Haram attacks.

Among the schools affected according to the agency, are 17 secondary schools and ten Islamic schools.

Speaking yesterday to journalists in Maiduguri, the agency’s Northeast Information Officer, Abdulkadir Ibrahim said assessment of level of destruction on the schools have been made and relief materials would be sent to them next weeks.

He said among the materials to be delivered to the 27 schools include cement, zinc, planks and nails to assist in the renovation of the destroyed structures

Ibrahim also disclosed that the agency has been able to assist those affected by the recent flood in Hawul, Gwoza and Askira Uba local government areas of Borno state.

He also told journalists that the agency has concluded the assessment of the flood on Damasak, and that after taking stock from the national headquarters in Abuja, they would be dispatched to the affected areas.

He said already in the zone, relief materials have also be dispatched to the affected areas of Yobe and Gombe states.
