The lifeless body of a stowaway has been discovered in the main wheel well of Arik Air’s A330-200 aircraft at the Oliver Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg.
Communications Manager of the airline, Ola Adebanji, confirmed this incident in a statement released on Wednesday.
According to the airline, the aircraft operated the scheduled Lagos-Johannesburg flight that left the Murtala Muhammed International Airport at 3:55pm on Tuesday and touched down in Johannesburg shortly before 11pm.
Engineers of the South African Airways Technical facility at the airport found the body during the inspection phase.
The statement added that investigations are currently ongoing to determine how the stowaway found his way into the aircraft’s main wheel.
