It was indeed, a bloody saturday in Abuja, the nation’s capital as a woman was feared killed and many others injured when a heavy-duty truck failed its break along Biaji Road in Kubwa .

It was gathered that the fatal accident occurred around 12. 00 pm when the driver lost control, veered off the road and rammed into a woman who was about to climb an Okada, killing her on the spot.

One of the first callers at the scene said the truck hit the deceased, threw her body into pieces and somersaulted severally before it plunged into a ditch.

“The car was coming from Biaji to Kubwa Village and was loaded with beer but if not because of these bumps (speed breakers) the truck would have rammed into residential buildings and kill many people.

“The woman wanted to climb a motorcycle but was hit from behind by the truck, and the okada man escaped unhurt,” the eyewitness said.

The truck damaged six cars, including; a Toyota Carina 2, Gulf 3, Saloon Jeta, Mercedes Benz (230), Nissan Sunny and a Toyota Rav 4 beyond repair.

Owners of the affected cars were said to have been relaxing at a nearby beer joint when the accident occurred.

As at the time of filling this report the deceased was still lying at the scene of the accident while the Toyota Carina and Saloon Jeta were trapped under the truck.

Officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the Nigerian Police were seen at the scene of the accident investigating the real cause of the accident.
