A bloody clash between Fulani herdsmen and farmers in Gereng community of Girei Local Government Area of Adamawa State on Tuesday reportedly claimed no fewer than three lives.

It was gathered that some members of the Gereng community were fishing in a pond near the River Benue, when some migrating herdsmen reportedly launched an attack on them.

An eyewitness told ThisDay that the development caused an uproar, after which members of the community launched a reprisal attack.

On their arrival at the scene of the incident, the herdsmen had fled.

Commenting on the incident, the state police command spokesman, SP Othman Abubakar, said six others were injured in the crisis between Fulani herdsmen and farmers in Gereng community.

He said normalcy had been restored to the area, adding that investigations were on to ascertain the reason for the attack.
